It's Official Mom and Dad are Missionaries!!

Just after mom and dad received their mission call four months ago, mom gave me the warning that dates on the calendar are closer than they appear and boy was she right! The last four months have flown by!  Everything they have been preparing for is finally here. Yesterday they were set apart a missionaries and this morning we dropped them off at the Missionary Training Center in Provo Utah.  For the past few months they have been going to the MTC for language training three times a week so the MTC seemed to be a very familiar place to them. Dad almost seemed giddy as he was unloading his suitcases. It was hard to be sad when you could see their excitement.
The kids were delighted to be able to see their room. Hailey said they had a very nice hotel room. Dad said it reminded him of his cabin from the cruise they went on last year, but grandma who went on the cruise with them  said, "Not quite," (somehow I don't think the cruise ship had cinderblock walls).
The goodbyes were quick and relatively easy as we knew we would be able to see them at the airport in twelve days. I imagine the airport may be a little harder, at least for me.
We came home to a quiet house. After FHE, we walked down to the Snow Shack and Andy told me he felt a little lonely. I thought he was joking as we has been surrounded by family since our arrival a month and a half a ago but he was serious, he misses mom and dad already. We will miss them but are really very excited for them and look forward to living vicariously through their experiences in Mongolia.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Lynette, and for the good write-up about Carol and Richard's move to the MTC. You are great to keep the family informed. Love to all. Grandma Verda
